How sweet it is ... that Harrisburg-Hershey shopping opportunity stretches from boutiques, farmers markets, malls and outlets … to seductive chocolate emporiums.

Harrisburg's Strawberry Square, facing Capitol Park and key to the capital city's revitalization, is a mix of financial houses, eateries, and specialty shops for fashion, jewelry, and more. Harrisburg's Broad Street Market – retail hub, historic gem, and the nation's oldest continuously operating farmers market (established in 1860 by the Verbeke family on Broad, now Third Street) -- houses vendors for fresh produce, meat, cheese, flowers, and events including a Super Chef cook-off. Within the region are Saturday's Market on East Harrisburg Pike, and Bird-in-Hand Farmers Market on Route 340. Besides Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World, Boscov's and Hecht's, the bi-level Harrisburg Mall, southeast of town, houses 90 specialty shops and an eight-unit food court. Lancaster's Tanger Factory Outlet Center touts more than 50 outlets for designer names from Liz Claiborne to Tommy Hilfiger. The 60-unit Outlets at Hershey has stores from Hush Puppies and OshKosh B'Gosh to Big Dog Sportswear and Bible Factory Outlet. Colonial Park Mall, anchored by Boscov's, Bon-Ton and Sears, also has a line-up from A Dollar and Avon Beauty Center to Birkenstock, Hot Topic, and Wet Seal. Chambersburg Mall, anchored by Bon-Ton, Value City, JCPenney, and Sears, also sparkles with jewelers from Belle and Kings to Littman and Zales.

Hershey Park's Sweet Memories at Hershey Lodge stocks Hershey logo products and apparel, and The Jeweler at Hotel Hershey dispenses signature Kisses galore in silver charms, pendants and dangling earrings. Hershey World's Hershey's Bake Shoppe has a complete line of fresh-baked pastries, chocolates, and specialty coffees.

As for breweries, Harrisburg boasts the Appalachian Brewing Company and Troegs Brewing Company, and nearby Carlisle has Market Cross Pub & Brewery. Regional wineries include Hershey's Culiari Vineyards and Winery, Harrisburg's Westhanover Winery, Liverpool's Hunters Valley Winery, and Pine Grove's Stone Mountain Wine Cellars.
